Andrew Gardner – Artist & Designer Behind Synch Fishing

Andrew Gardner is a world-class wood carver, lure designer, and product innovator with more than 40 years of carving experience and over 25 years dedicated to fishing lures. Inspired by his father, one of the original fish carvers of the 1960s–90s, Andrew began carving at the age of eight and has since transformed that early passion into a lifelong pursuit of craftsmanship. His work has earned him seven Fish Decoy World Championships, international recognition at events like Sweden’s Bait Bash, and features on magazine covers and in design contests. As part of American Baitworks for the past seven years, Andrew has shaped colorways and designs for brands like Scum Frog and NetBait, while now leading Synch Fishing—a premium line of swimbaits and innovative lures that merge art and function. Each design begins as a hand-drawn sketch and evolves through hours of carving, painting, and prototyping, reflecting his philosophy of always pushing boundaries to create lures unlike anything the market has seen. For Andrew, every bait is more than a tool—it’s a piece of art rooted in tradition, innovation, and a lifelong dedication to excellence.

“All my prototypes start with a sketch… I’m a bit old school — I like to do something on paper with pencil.”
